Overview

All  Early College High School courses are aligned to the Arizona academic standards.  We also require students to complete courses in Public Speaking, Personal Finance, and Service Learning. Students may begin taking college courses as early as the 9th grade; their college coursework also counts towards completion of high school graduation requirements! In the Junior year, students must complete a Service Learning component which allows them to work to benefit the community. As Seniors, they will focus on career development; our goal is for all senior students to complete a job internship.

Because Early College class periods are extended, students complete a full credit in some content areas including the Sciences and Social Studies each semester.  For some students, it is possible to complete a high school diploma and an AA degree in less than five years. Curriculum Maps reflect the structure of the Early College model and the activities used to deliver the curriculum. These maps help teachers, administrators, and parents answer the questions that many ask regarding students' learning: questions that deal with what students know, what they studied the previous year, what they are studying this year, and how to help students understand the connections between a varitey of high school and college course-work. Curriculum Maps explicitly show the instructional strategies teachers use to teach key vocabulary and concepts which are aligned to Arizona State Standards.
